A Reason to Shower

Outfits ironed, kids fed. Then we decided to stay home this morning.

Great. Now I need to find a new reason to shower. You see, when you are depressed it takes a lot of drive to get under that rain of water. You'd think that you'd crave refreshment. No. It's too much of a chore. Scrubbing your body? Torture. And brushing your hair? Too tiring. Especially if you have to dry it, too. Everything is hard to do, if all you're doing is staying in bed anyway. Once you get to the clean and clothed part, the rest is ok (like makeup and jewelry and talking to people). For some reason, it's that hygiene hump that needs climbing, and it's a killer.

Luckily I have a husband who can come up with a list of reasons why I need to take a shower. I may not like it, but he's gonna get me in there.

  1. I love you Rachael. I just want you to know that. I haven't seen you in years, but reading your blog is tear jerking for me. I feel like I'm reading the story of my mom's life. And sometimes I feel like I received some of her genes, and depression is something I've struggled with for a long time. I'm in a point now of NOT being on medication, and I have to make it work. This post about the shower just hits home! I totally understand! Love you girl!

  2. Thanks, Jill. It means a lot to have your support. Does your mom have Bipolar or Depression? I'm glad you don't have to be on medication. I wish I could be there, but I don't see that happening for me. Have a great day!

    Truly,
    Rachael

  3. Bipolar. Our whole growing up life. It was hard. But back then she didn't know about medicine. She was either high or low, there wasn't really a middle. She's on meds now....sometimes they are working for her. =)

  4. I KNOW!! Buy really yummy smelling body wash. I LOVE Neutrogena Rainbath, Grapefruit. It has a very light clean lovely smell. It will make you want to hop in the shower as soon as you get home from the store! Seriously...I bought the Sam's 40oz bottle because I love it so much, haha.
